Surfaces shall be kept free of unnecessary tripping hazards, vertical deviations or pitfalls as would become a hindrance to standard traverse of surfaces. All surfaces shall remain in a clean and safe condition, free and clear of obstructions caused by lack of maintenance or deferred maintenance, including but not limited to cracks, pitfalls, sand, debris, vertical shifting (positive or negative), or other amendments that can cause a substandard walking surface.
