The Town Council shall appoint the Municipal Judge, who shall have the same qualifications as a county judge in a Class D county, as set forth in § 13-6-203(3), C.R.S., with preference given to those applicants who are licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado. The Municipal Judge need not be a resident of the Town of Parachute, or of Garfield County, and, subject to state law, may hold other judicial offices and may practice law. The term of office of the Municipal Judge shall be as provided in § 13-10-105, C.R.S. Any vacancy in the office of the Municipal Judge shall be filled by appointment by the Town Council. The Town Council may appoint such additional associate municipal judges or assistant judges as may be necessary to act in case of temporary absence, sickness, disqualification, or other inability of the presiding Municipal Judge to act.
